The Secretary to the Osun State Government, High Chief Teslim Igbalaye, has paid a glowing tribute to the late Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke, the revered first Executive Governor of Osun State, fondly known as Serubawon, on the occasion of the 8th anniversary of his passing.
In his statement, High Chief Igbalaye extolled the enduring legacy of a visionary leader whose contributions continue to shape the trajectory of Osun State.
"I solemnly commemorate the 8th anniversary of the passing of our beloved Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke, the revered first Executive Governor of Osun State, fondly known as Serubawon," Igbalaye declared.
"Today, we reflect with gratitude and reverence on the enduring legacy of a visionary leader, a philanthropist par excellence, and a true son of Osun whose contributions remain indelible in the annals of our state’s history.
"Serubawon, who departed this world on April 23, 2017, was a colossus whose life was defined by selfless service, humility, and an unwavering commitment to the progress of Osun State. As the pioneer Executive Governor, he laid a solid foundation for the state’s development, navigating the challenges of a nascent state with remarkable foresight and dedication".
The Osun SSG highlighted Senator Adeleke’s unparalleled generosity, which touched the lives of the underprivileged and earned him admiration far beyond Nigeria’s shores.
"His generosity knew no bounds," Igbalaye noted. "As a two-term Senator representing Osun West, he championed democratic ideals, famously advocating for the de-annulment of the June 12 election, earning the affectionate moniker ‘the lone mosquito in Babangida’s nose.’ Serubawon was a leader who refined power, making it motivational and user-friendly.
"The late Senator’s humility and large-heartedness, endeared him to all, transcending political affiliations. His political structure, built on loyalty and unity, remains a testament to his exceptional leadership."
Igbalaye emphasized that Senator Adeleke’s legacy continues to thrive through his brother, His Excellency, Gov Ademola Adeleke, who has sustained the commitment to good governance and human development in Osun State.
As Osun State marks this solemn anniversary, Igbalaye urged the people of Osun to draw inspiration from Serubawon’s life of service, humility, and dedication to humanity.
"I pray that his soul continues to find repose in Aljanat Firdaus, and that his good works inspire us all to serve humanity with love and dedication," Igbalaye said.
"Serubawon, you came, you saw, you conquered. Your memory is eternal, and Osun will forever cherish you as the central issue in our politics and the heartbeat of our progress."he concluded.

High Chief Igbalaye Teslim,
Secretary to the Osun State Government.
