STAI's STUDENTS ADVOCATE FOR TAX (SAT) ORGANISED OSUN TAX SUMMIT
It was a remarkable achievement recorded in the just concluded a two-day tax summit organized by Students Advocate for Tax under the national president, Adv. Babawale Popoola where students from various primary, secondary and tertiary institutions across the State converged and reached out en masse in solidarity for tax.
The advocacy started with road side tax talk and took the major streets of State capital, Osogbo like Orita-Olaiya junction, Alekuwodo, Oke-fia, Freedom Park among others with the attendance of some stakeholders in the State who by passion joined the club to consolidate on tax evangelism template of Board of Osun Internal Revenue.
On the second day of the event was the program with the theme: the roles of taxation in building the Nigeria we desire. It took place at the Local Government Service Commission, State Secretariat, Abeere.
In his welcoming address, the National President, Students Advocate for Tax, Adv. Babawale Popoola said, Students Advocate for Tax (SAT) is a subsidiary of Students Tax Advocacy Initiative (STAI) with a clear objective to educate Students of various categories in both public and private schools in order to catch them young to be more knowledgeable on tax related issues and as well to increase voluntary tax compliances among taxpaying people.
While addressing the participants at the event, the representative of the Chairman, Osun Internal Revenue Service who is the Director, Income tax, Mr. Abdul Wasiu Olaitan charged the pupils in attendance to make use of the better understanding they have on tax in the course of the program to make positive effect in society.
Also speaking at the event were the Senior Special Adviser to Governor on Economic Planning, Hon. Oyeniyi Abdul Wahab and the Senior Special Adviser to Governor on Budget, Hon. Lawal Muideen. The duo unanimously asserted on the fact that the sterling performance of Ogbeni especially in the people’s centered developmental projects executed across the State beckon for passionate interest of all and sundry to rally round his government for the continuity of good work.
They therefore, enjoined every tax payer in the state to pay their tax for government to do more.
