UNIOSUN CMD Highlights 100 Days of Service, Champions Improved Healthcare at Window on America Forum

Dr. Babatunde Adeola Afolabi, Chief Medical Director (CMD) of UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, delivered a lecture and accountability forum at the Osogbo Window on America on Thursday, February 13, 2025. The event, themed "Improved Medical Care Services and Healthier Families," also served as an opportunity for Dr. Afolabi to present a report on his first 100 days in office.


The forum, which began at 10:00 AM, saw both physical attendees at the Window on America and a large virtual audience joining from American Spaces across Nigeria


and internationally.


Dr. Afolabi expressed his gratitude to the "Uniosun family" for their support of his agenda. He emphasized his commitment to accountability, stating, "Any death that happens here justly or unjustly, I'm accountable; and that's my driven force to quality healthcare."


The American Spaces Nigeria moderator commended Dr. Afolabi’s innovative approach to leadership. This sentiment was echoed by Rt. Hon. Niyi Owolade, Board Chairman of UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital, who declared, "Dr. Afolabi is doing his own bit, we're now picking up UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital to greater heights and I'm glad we're all supporting the CMD to achieve this. One person can make the story change, our approach to the patients that comes to this hospital is a lot."


Members of the hospital staff also shared their perspectives on Dr. Afolabi’s leadership. Mrs. Oyewole Christie, Head of Corporate Affairs, described him as a "workaholic" and "Mr. Transformational," highlighting his impact on healthcare, training, and research. "We wonder whether he sleeps, because we don't understand how he does it," she added. Abiodun Collins praised Dr. Afolabi's "truly transformative" leadership, citing his "exceptional human relation and empathy."


The Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC), Olufemi Ala, delivered the vote of thanks, stating, "We are all enjoying the dividends of the growth and development that Dr. Afolabi is influencing to UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital as the CMD." The forum underscored Dr. Afolabi’s commitment to improving medical care services and fostering healthier families within the UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital community and beyond.
