The Accord Party in Osun State has debunked a news circulating that the party is taking students in uniforms to schools to go and register for election, describing the report as false and misleading.
Speaking in a statement, the Chairman of Accord in Osun State said the news is the handiwork of APC agents who are worried at the widening popularity of Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke.
“This is a desperate fabrication by APC agents who are clearly uncomfortable with the growing acceptance of Imole across Osun State,” the chairman said.
The party stated that while every eligible citizens are qualified to register for INEC, Accord was never involved in mobilising students, especially in uniforms, for the exercise.
“Accord has never been involved in mobilising students in uniforms or otherwise for voters registration,” the statement stressed.
Accord further tasked the APC to listen to the stern warning its leaders got from the Abuja leadership and get to the work of election without fake news and without false hope of any federal might coming to rig election.
“Politics should be done without fake news and without selling false hope of federal might,” the chairman said.
According to the party, the message from Abuja is already creating disquiet among APC leaders, as Abuja has told them that no federal might will be deployed to rig Osun election.
“That message is clear, and it has unsettled the Osun APC leadership,” Accord noted.
The party added that aside the fact that Osun people will resist tampering with their votes, the Abuja leadership has also frowned at several political lies from Osun APC leadership and has warned them to desist and stop dragging the names of Mr President in the mud.
Accord urged the public to disregard the false report and reaffirmed its commitment to lawful, peaceful, and credible participation in the electoral process.
