The race for Osun 2026 has officially kicked off with a bold statement from Governor Ademola Adeleke, who on Wednesday inaugurated his campaign machinery and declared that victory is already in sight.
At a high-energy event held at Imole House in Osogbo, the Governor unveiled the “Imole Campaign Council,” setting the tone for what is shaping up to be a fierce political contest ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
Amid chants, music, and visible excitement from supporters, Adeleke didn’t hold back. He told party faithful that the signs of victory are already clear, insisting that the Accord party will defeat its opponents by a wide margin.
“I am feeling the victory already. This team is heading to victory. My spirit confirms it,” the Governor declared, drawing loud cheers from the crowd.
He likened the moment to the early days of his 2022 triumph, describing the inauguration as the beginning of another “march to victory” and a renewed push for continuity in governance.
“We Won’t Waste Time Fighting Empty Opponents” - DG
In a strategic shift, the Director-General of the council, Lere Oyewumi, signaled that the campaign would avoid distractions and focus squarely on selling the Governor’s record.
According to him, the days of opposition-style politics are over, stressing that the ruling party has a strong performance to stand on.
“Our candidate is good and the market is fine. So, what is the problem?” he said pointedly.
Oyewumi added that rather than engaging critics, the campaign would concentrate on connecting with voters, especially youths and the media, noting that Osun people already understand and appreciate Adeleke’s leadership style.
“We’ve Done It Before, We’ll Do It Again” - PDP Chairman
Also speaking, Osun PDP Chairman, Sunday Bisi, struck a confident tone, reminding supporters of past electoral victories and predicting a repeat performance.
“We have done this before, and we will win again,” he said, dismissing the opposition as lacking both achievements and a compelling message.
In a dramatic flourish, Bisi declared that Osun firmly belongs to Adeleke, expressing confidence that the Governor’s continued leadership would transform the state significantly in the coming years.
Political Heavyweights Converge
The inauguration drew a large crowd of political stakeholders from both PDP and Accord, alongside top government officials, signaling early consolidation of forces ahead of the polls.
With this move, Adeleke has effectively fired the first major shot in the Osun 2026 race-setting the stage for what promises to be an intense and closely watched political battle.
