OneForAllMedia reports that a coalition of civil society groups on Thursday stormed the Osogbo office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), accusing the commission of carrying out questionable and allegedly partisan staff redeployments ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
Operating as the Coalition of Concerned Nigeria Citizens (CCNC), the group described the recent transfer of Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Mutiu Agboke, to Ondo State as suspicious, warning that the timing raises serious concerns about transparency and neutrality.
In a petition addressed to INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, the coalition alleged a pattern of selective postings designed to position individuals with perceived political leanings in sensitive roles, a move they say could undermine the credibility of the election.
The protesters, who displayed placards demanding accountability, called for an immediate review of all recent postings, an independent audit of voter activities, and a clear public assurance from INEC leadership.
Speaking during the protest, CCNC spokesperson Rahufu Sodiq insisted the group’s concern is the integrity of the electoral process, warning that any attempt to manipulate the Osun election will be firmly resisted.
