Governor faults opposition manifesto sector-by-sector, says it lacks ideas and credibility
Governor Ademola Adeleke has launched a sweeping critique of the opposition’s policy blueprint, describing the agenda of Osun APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji as “a warped plan” that fails to reflect the needs and aspirations of the people.
The Governor, who spoke after the 2026 May Day rally in Osogbo, reportedly took apart the opposition’s manifesto point by point, accusing the camp of lacking clear governance direction and attempting to mislead voters with recycled ideas.
According to a statement signed by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke described the APC document as a hurried compilation designed to “deceive and mask internal confusion.”
Agriculture, Economy Under Fire
On agriculture, the Governor faulted the APC’s proposal for agro-processing zones, arguing that such plans are unrealistic without strong primary production.
He contrasted this with his administration’s investments in cash crop expansion, tractorisation, and seedling distribution, insisting that his government is laying the real foundation for agro-industrial growth.
Taxation, Workers’ Welfare and Debt Questions
Adeleke also took aim at Oyebamiji’s record as former finance commissioner, accusing him of imposing taxes on artisans and small businesses without corresponding support.
He questioned why the opposition failed to clear salary arrears during its tenure despite rising state debt, describing claims of prioritising workers and pensioners as “deceitful.”
ICT, Jobs and Investment Accountability
On youth and technology, the Governor dismissed the APC’s “Osun Tech City” proposal as hollow, noting that the previous administration had no ICT policy framework.
He pointed instead to his government’s digital economy initiatives, including the establishment of policy and legal structures to drive ICT development.
The Governor further demanded accountability on past state investments, raising questions about key assets and job creation records under the previous administration.
Infrastructure, Health and Education Claims Challenged
Adeleke accused the APC of presiding over abandoned infrastructure projects, many of which his administration is now completing, while describing the opposition’s new promises as lacking credibility.
He also questioned the handling of a $20 million health fund meant for primary healthcare under the previous government, contrasting it with his administration’s rehabilitation of over 200 health centres statewide.
“Ignore the Deception” — Adeleke Urges Voters
Maintaining that the opposition’s agenda is built on distraction and misinformation, the Governor urged Osun voters to stay focused on tangible performance.
He reaffirmed his administration’s five-point development agenda, covering welfare, infrastructure, agro-industrial growth, health and education, and a secure business environment.
“I effectively delivered in my first term; I will deliver more excellently in my second term,” the Governor stated.
