OSCOTECH Secures NBTE Accreditation, Gets Approval for 20 New Academic Programmes

The Osun State College of Technology (OSCOTECH), Esa-Oke, has recorded a major academic breakthrough following the successful accreditation of all programmes presented to the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) during the recently concluded accreditation exercise.

The development also saw the institution secure approval for the commencement of 20 new academic programmes across the National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) levels, further expanding its academic offerings and strengthening its position as one of Nigeria's leading polytechnics.

According to a statement issued by the College's Public Relations Officer, Fatai Tijani, the accreditation exercise resulted in the successful re-accreditation of 11 existing programmes.

At the National Diploma level, the programmes re-accredited include Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science, Agricultural Technology, Multimedia Technology, Arts and Industrial Design, Accountancy, Banking and Finance, and Business Administration.

At the Higher National Diploma level, Banking and Finance, Accountancy, and Statistics also secured renewed accreditation from the NBTE.

In addition to the re-accreditation exercise, the Board approved the introduction of 20 new programmes designed to align the institution's curriculum with emerging industry trends and labour market demands.

The newly approved National Diploma programmes include Mass Communication, Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Environmental Science and Management Technology, Food Science Technology, and Transport Planning and Management.

At the Higher National Diploma level, the newly approved programmes include Arts and Industrial Design (Textile Option), Arts and Industrial Design (Graphics Option), Office Technology Management, Agribusiness Management, Animal Production Technology, Crop Production Technology, Agricultural Extension and Management, Film and Multimedia Production, Library and Information Science, Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security and Data Protection, Mechatronics Engineering Technology (Industrial Mechatronics Option), Mechatronics Engineering Technology (Automotive Mechatronics Option), Marketing, and Taxation.

Reacting to the achievement, the Rector of the institution, Mr. S. A. Adewumi, described the outcome as a reflection of the College's commitment to quality education, academic excellence, and continuous improvement in infrastructure, manpower development, teaching, and curriculum delivery.

He expressed appreciation to the Governing Council of the College, led by its Chairman, Prince Diran Odeyemi, as well as the management, staff, students, alumni, and other stakeholders whose contributions helped secure the successful outcome of the accreditation exercise.

According to the Rector, the approval of the new programmes demonstrates OSCOTECH's determination to keep pace with global developments by introducing courses that address contemporary challenges and opportunities in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Environmental Management, Media and Communication Studies, Agribusiness, and Mechatronics Engineering.

He noted that the expansion of the institution's academic portfolio would enhance its capacity to produce skilled graduates equipped with the technical knowledge, professional competencies, and entrepreneurial mindset required to compete in today's rapidly evolving economy.

Adewumi reassured prospective students, parents, and members of the public of the institution's commitment to maintaining high academic standards and delivering quality technical and vocational education.

The successful accreditation and approval exercise, he added, further reinforces OSCOTECH's reputation as a centre of excellence in teaching, research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and technological advancement.
