A fresh wave of political tension has erupted in Osun State following allegations that the Nigeria Police Force has intensified raids on the homes of senior government officials and leaders of the Accord, raising fresh concerns over the neutrality of security agencies ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
According to the Osun State Government, the latest operation targeted the residence of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), where heavily armed police officers reportedly conducted a raid led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations. Several individuals, including Accord members and occupants of the residence, were reportedly taken away, with their whereabouts yet to be made public.

Government sources allege that the residences of at least six commissioners and other top officials have also been raided or placed under surveillance in recent days. The Osun State Government has condemned the operations in the strongest terms, accusing the Osun State Police Command of abandoning neutrality and allegedly acting in the interest of the opposition APC. The government further warned that the continued arrests of Accord members and the reported denial of bail to several detainees could heighten political tension and undermine public confidence in the electoral process.
